Durga Prasad Baral
Durga Prasad Baral is a researcher and PhD candidate at the Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED). Mr. Baral has acquired two university degrees: a Masters in Civil Engineering from the Kiev Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers (at present known as National Aviation University) Kiev, Ukraine, and an MPhil in Educational Leadership from the Kathmandu University, Nepal. He has more than 20 years of work experience in the sector of TVET of Nepal including at the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT). Mr. Baral’s research interests include educational leadership, technical and vocational education and training, as well as entrepreneurship development. Durga Prasad Baral is an accomplished Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) expert with over 30 years of distinguished experience in the field. He holds a PhD from Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED), where his doctoral research—conducted under the ETH Zurich-led LELAM (Linking Education and Labour Market) project—focused on “Informal Skills Learning: Case Study of Small-Sized Enterprises in Nepal.” Since 2018, he has been instrumental in shaping future leaders in the TVET sector by teaching Master’s level courses in TVET Administration & Leadership and Human Resource Development. His expertise spans curriculum design, policy advisory, and the implementation of impactful training programs that bridge the gap between youth skills and meaningful employment opportunities. In addition to an M.Phil. in Educational Leadership, he also holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Airport Construction), bringing a unique interdisciplinary perspective to his work. His extensive professional background includes major contributions to the development sector, with a strong emphasis on conflict sensitivity and sustainable development.
